Elena Saenz-Welch
Biography:
Elena Saenz-Welch has worked at Montgomery College since 1990. She has
served as director of Academic Initiatives since 2001. In this role, Ms.
Saenz-Welch has administrative oversight for the Montgomery College and
Montgomery County Public School Partnerships, which includes programs such as
the College Institute, Gateway to College, Tech Prep Program, Summer Bridge,
Discipline Specific Faculty-to-Faculty School-Based Intervention, PSAT to Inform
Instruction, Prep Talk, PSAT Parent Information, and High School Academy

Area Description:
The College and the Public School system have a long-standing partnership
that helps meet the educational needs of today's students. Looking towards the
future, it is clear that a "baby boom echo" is building, creating national
growth in the number of high school graduates. Meanwhile, accessibility to
institutions of higher education is becoming more and more difficult. Montgomery
College and Montgomery County Public Schools have made it a priority to work
