James E. Daniels
Biography:
James E. Daniels, Dean
of Student Development, joined the Montgomery College administrative team in
August, 2004. He has 15 years of prior higher education student service
experience in academic leadership, community outreach,
admissions, advising, disability services, counseling, budgeting, new student
orientation, grant writing, distance learning, and working with students and
faculty of various ages from diverse economic, ethnic, academic, and cultural
backgrounds. Mr. Daniels holds a B.A. in Theology and Management from Pacific
Christian College, an M.A. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from
California State University, and is completing requirements for an Ed.D. in
Educational Leadership and Technology at La Sierra University.
Area Description:
The Student
Development area has several units, including assessment, advising, counseling,
disability support services, athletics, student life, and a TRIO grant program.
The mission of Student Development is to provide programs, support, services,
and instructional opportunities that assist students in achieving success with
their individual educational goals. The area takes into consideration the
changing needs of students, providing opportunities for their personal,
emotional, intellectual, and social growth while supporting and enhancing the
academic process. Student Development works closely with many College units, as
well as representatives from the public schools and community groups, to meet
the needs of our increasingly diverse student population.
